This picture was taken in a Taiwan mall about a month ago by a friend of mine. For some reason I do not think this chain store will be opening anywhere in America.

WTF? Only in Taiwan

The Chinese name of the store is actually Black Person King, or maybe King of Black People? I mean, it’s an accurate translation if your dictionary was, oh I dunno, from 1843 or something.

Red compresses more in a .jpeg which is why it looks that way. Also… science!

Not photoshopped. As someone pointed out, the Chinese characters along the top of the entrance spell out 黑人王, which means “Black person king”.
@bob holness. If I remember right, it’s supposed to be a field (田) on earth/soil (土) that has fire (火) underneath it (and partially within the field).

Theres also a type of toothpaste in china called “Darkie” toothpaste. The name of the toothpaste in chinese is 黑人牙膏 which literally translates as black man toothpaste. It plays upon the chinese feeling that black people have really white teeth, and is one of the best selling brands of toothpaste in china. The name was recently changed to “Darlie” after being involved in some lawsuit. The front of the toothpaste prominently features a black man wearing a top hat with really white teeth.

It’s a real photo. Look at this, better-lit image.

Another likely reason the King is sharper that a regular ccd camera was used to take the picture. Most ccds are in a gb/rg configuration so, yellow activates three of the sensors in the ccd versus red only giving one. This lets the camera more easily determine where the boundary of the color is, making it sharper.
This is one (minor) reason why slr is better.
— Note · Mar 4, 02:20 PM · #
> This is one (minor) reason why slr is better.
You are making this up, no possible way in hell that a CCD camera will inherently make images that fuzzy when there is (gasp) red involved. That would render digital cameras unsuitable for pro work completely, and they are now dominant among pros. Male answer syndrome?
— Please · Mar 4, 03:11 PM · #
SLR can be digital or film, of course, and has nothing to do with the sensor. It’s way fuzzier than even the cheapest digital camera is capable of reproducing, for whatever reason.
— Dingus · Mar 4, 03:18 PM · #
who says the photo wasn’t taken by a cheap cell phone camera? the quality isn’t that great and looks compared to recent cell phones… those are cheap.

HA HA HA HA, IT’S NOT REAL BECAUSE NIGGERS CAN’T BE KING, FAGGOTS
— lolcawks · Mar 4, 03:56 PM · #
Highly saturated and illuminated red (which this is) will bleed on photos and film. It’s not a shoop, it’s just a fact.
Here’s a link to someone asking such a question when putting “film red bleeding” in google.

While it does translate to “black man king” in Chinese, that doesn’t necessarily translate to “nigger king”. “Black man” is the standard way in which Chinese refer to darker skinned folks, but it’s not meant as an insult. Obviously the store owner/founder took some liberties with his translation.
The translation for “white man” is exactly the same, except with “white” instead of “black”, of course. A store named “White man King” wouldn’t automatically translate to “Cracker King” or “Redneck King” either.
— SK · Mar 5, 02:46 PM · #
