I see Reddit listed at the bottom. So this was made by the reddit guys? Why would they start another reddit?

To my knowledge anyway, there's no affiliation with the reddit.com admins; the admins here are simply using the (freely available) reddit site code. As for who runs it, I have no idea, though at least one of the admins seems nice from my short correspondence.

That's why the logo at the bottom says "powered by reddit" - it's referring to the codebase that runs reddit, not the actual reddit team. That code is open-source.
